DRAG QUEEN impersonates OLD SCHOOL MARIAH

The great thing about Mariah is that her face hasn’t changed. So changing the point in her career that you’re impersonating her means only changing the wig! And I had to do this because I found this wig in the $8 bin at the wig store so…it’s so vintage Mariah.

As a matter of fact, I put it on when i got home and asked my boyfriend “ISN’T THIS SO OLD SCHOOL MARIAH!?”

And he replied, “No, you look like Howard Stern.” …pshh…same decade so I’m in the clear. Actually, why didn’t anybody realize that Howard and Mariah had the same hair earlier?! Some questions will never be answered.

Town Danceboutique held its third installment in the monthly contest “So, You Think You’re a Drag Queen?” on Friday, March 5. Five contestants — Niki B. Sparks, Ginger, Anastasia, Kip Valentine and Pearly Gates — vied to be March’s bona fide drag queen. The winner will advance to a grand finale of queen critiques later this year, where she’ll compete against the other monthly winners. Crazy competitions in this month’s edition include “Walk the Runway with a Can of Corn on Your Head” and contestants enhancing their outfits with odds and ends, then performing unrehearsed to a song chosen by hosts Shi-Queeta-Lee and Lena Lett.

Perhaps its the fact that its totally new to me or maybe I have the wrong kind of glue, but I didn’t like the results. Well maybe I should say, I didn’t like the application. The end results weren’t quite as bad as I thought. It was very difficult to apply and blend the eye shadow and it continued to be a problem through the entire makeup application.

I will surely give this another try. I’m not one to give up easily on new things.

Synthetic wigs are plastic, so hot irons can melt them or do some damage. Here’s a method i do to get curly wigs silky straight. Remember, if it’s not straight enough the first time, you can repeat the process. Take alot of care when combing it, use a wide tooth comb and work your way down to a smaller one if necessary because wigs don’t grow back if you pull the hair out.

A tutorial made by me to help out all those people new to styling wigs and or new to cutting bangs. The method used in the tutorial is based off of Tristen Citrine’s original cutting bangs tutorial (which is here:

At first I know it hard, but don’t be intimidated, everyone has to start somewhere right? Sorry if the video went through the process too fast, I had to make sure the video wouldn’t go past the 10 minute Youtube video time limit. Usually in real time it would take me 30 minutes to cut bangs into a wig, so I had to fast forward quite a bit.

If you have any comments or questions about this tutorial feel free to post it here, and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. At some point I’ll be posting up some more video wig tutorials also, such as sharpie wig dyeing, and cutting or styling tutorials depending on how many people are interested.

How Much is Exercise Important to Crossdressing?

However you might feel about the topic of exercise, is it an important part of crossdressing? Undoubtedly it helps a lot if a crossdresser has a trim midsection to look femme. Hey, as men we have no curves like those sexy genetic girls, and we use clothing, cinchers, outfits, techniques of walking — actually anything — to give a hint of curves. Most importantly, we strive to be skinny in the middle. Do we want to achieve the ideal of an actual curvy hourglass shape, or can we can just be thin all the way down and let our onlookers fill in the visual details?

So it does not hurt your chances of being passable if you hit the fitness center every so often. Wouldn’t you agree? But, heavy workouts like lifting could possibly take away from your look. By doing lots of curls to pump up your arms and chest, you’re probably not going to look quite as feminine. Also, some crossdressers who exercise add waist muscle tissue, causing it to expand. All of this is of course is dependent on personal choice and health. You most likely want the sleek toned look that precedes the popping muscles if an exercise regime is taken too far.

As for as lighter forms of exercise, swimming and walking shouldn’t be a problem. If you go for a walk daily wearing two pound ankle weights, that should do a lot for your legs and thighs. Also, it could be argued that diet is far more important than exercise, but it’s the exercise that can help out in the waist area. If you like snug clothing, it doesn’t look so great on you with a boy gut.

But being too skinny can be a double-edged sword. Your legs might loose some of their shape. And, if you have some weight, it can contribute to curves by being in the hips and help in the chest area for creating great cleavage.

Learn By Yourself How to Put on Make up

For a lot of beginning crossdressers, you are just starting out, not yet part of a community, and you are looking to find information or websites that show you how to teach yourself to put on your own makeup. Part of the joy is just to practice with different looks and styles. Just find pictures of a style and coloring that you like and copy it. Keep on practicing until you get it right. Then try another style.

You have to remember that the way that a woman puts on makeup is very different from how most guys apply it. One good idea is to buy some beauty magazines like Cosmo, Vogue, or even Skin Two and zero in on the very dramatic makeup. That’s what is needed to make guy look like a girl. One thing is beard cover. Another is purplish or greenish color under the eyes. Your face is your canvas and in some sense you are painting a pretty picture. There will be frustrating moments. But you will find that it will be worth it when the first time you do it right and then put on your wig and you are just stunned by your heavenly look.

One helpful thing that you can do is a take photo of your face after you apply the makeup. This will help you to see how others will see you. This way you can make a note of what works and what does not. The typical male make up problem is doing a good job in covering your beard area. To do this you want to use some of the heavier concealer type of make up foundations. Coloring the area with a yellow cast seems to help also.

If you read a lot of posts on forums about crossdressing and drag queen makeup, you will find that a lot of drag queens just get makeovers in at the cosmetic counter at department stores. Sometime even in male mode. And, usually no one says anything! Most of the make up clerks work on commission and they are almost always willing to help out as much as they can. Don’t be too afraid to go to a makeup counter and explain the clerk that you’re a drag queen, and you want to learn how to do your own makeup. If you are honest with her, you may just find that you have a new friend. So, don’t think that you are the only crossdresser who does this. One tip is that the makeup counters are usually the least busy in the early evening. This is the dinner hour when most women are either making dinner or putting on their own makeup to go out for the evening. Even better is Friday and Saturday. These are the best times to go.

Drag Queen 80’s Costume Ideas

Americans hold a special place in there heart for the 1980’s. Whether it is music, board games, video games, fashion, movies of TV shows, people often really love the sense of nostalgia that comes over them when the 1980’s are mentioned. Because there is such variety for men, women and children, it is easy for groups of friends or families to dress up as very recognizable characters to entertain other. Some people loved the 80’s so much that they wear 80’s costumes on days that aren’t Halloween.

Some popular 80’s costumes come from mimicking 80’s rock stars. A classic for drag queen costumes is of course Cher. Her dressing in a leather jacket and a thong while dancing on a battleship in her “If I could turn back time video” is just simply awesome. Also, many memorable hair bands, or bands whose members have big hair, made a huge impression in pop culture. You can buy wigs and tease them to make the hair high. They can also dye the wigs any color they’d like since rainbow hair was common in the 80’s. Crimping and curling hair was popular for men and women in the 80’s. Rock starts also tended to wear very tight pants when on stage. One of these is Tina Turner if you check out her “Better be good to me” video. Of course, the tighter the pants, the better. Leather was also big for 80’s rock stars.

In my opinion one of the best 80’s costumes is to dress up like is Madonna. More of a singer than a rock star, her style has evolved so drastically in the last 30 years, but everyone still emulates her 80’s style. She often wore tights, short skirts, wacky headbands, fake pearls, heavy mascara, lingerie, finger-less gloves, sunglasses and huge jewelry. Her hair was normally crimped or curled. Another idea would be Pat Benatar. A great drag queen costume model is to copy the beautiful and sexy Jessica Wild from Rupaul’s drag race.

Another popular 80’s costume is the 80’s prom queen. Dramatic cascading hair dos, long gloves and heavy makeup are must haves. Also, an 80’s prom dress can be found online or at a consignment shop. Make sure it is a bright color such as teal, magenta, tangerine, purple, etc, have huge shoulder pads and some kind of bugle beads, rhinestones, sequins or cutouts. More is more when it comes to the 80’s prom queen costume. You will also need a larger-than-life tiara and a bouquet of some sort.

The modern day term “drag” came from the Elizabethan era in England or about the end of the 16th century. This is when genetic women could not appear in theatre. They were basically banned from being on stage. So, William Shakespeare would write in the margins of his plays the notation “DR.A.G” next to the name of the male cast member appearing as female. This is short for “Dress As Girl.” So you can see that the expression can be shortened to just “DRAG” which is our modern day term to describe any man dressed as a woman on stage.

Drag Queen Shopping In Second Life

Here is an interesting blog (ignore the expired photo bucket background) about being a virtual drag queen in Second Life. “Second Life’s a Drag” is by “ZsaZsa Withnail” owner of “ZsaZsa house of Beauty.” She is Second Life’s — first — drag queen, and she spends a lot of time shopping for outfits. Apparently SL shopping in the “Addictive”-shopping district can be expensive where you can go home with only a few outfits and an empty change purse.

Her blog is mostly about her drag queen shopping adventures in SL stores and SL drag fashion. I wish ZsaZsa would go more into the latex fetish scene on Second Life on her blog. But she does sell corsets and wigs in her SL shop, which is shaped like a giant bra. Her blog also talks about Second Life drag makeup.

She does talk about Cashmere designs; another store in SL. She makes an observation that in SL “couture” clothing, as the prices get higher, so does the ridiculousness of the dresses. There are even SL couture designer labels such as Baiastice, Paper Couture, and Digit Darkes.

Girly drag queen makeover for guy?

I have a friend that crossdresses and wants a complete makeover and said i can go as far as i wanted (except surgery)

I want to show him the works and make him a drag queen

I’ve always hated his body hair (reminds me of a bear and its all over . .. ewww) so thats first to go. im thinking full body wax (would do laser but alittle pricey) . . . he has very bushy eyebrows so I think pencil thin arched should do or maybe just remove them and draw them on

he has no piercings so I think 3 in each ear and his navel.
he has short dark hair (like an inch) so i dont really know what to do there, maybe bleach but its too short to style wig?

Finally makeup, Mani/pedi with some fake nails (what kind are best) and plently on the face (any long lasting stuff). I think im going to give him a whore look just to try on then tone it down

give me ideas on what and how to do everything

The typical drag queen look is all about makeup! A lipliner that is several shades darker than the lipstick or lipgloss is a good way to do this. Also, fake eyelashes with lots of mascara, plus a loud eyeshadow.

And please do a wig. You should go to a shop with a wide selection of wigs.

hey people.
just a quick note, how can i do drag queen make-up, ive tried the youtube step by step and i make it look a mess! lol
ive tryed to find a good wig that is cheap aswell, but the ones ive got from ebay are ok, but dont really like them.

but yeah back to the make-up. ive tried every shade, colour and everything of eye shadow. i just cant get the look! lol

I admire drag queens so much because they get to drown themselves in makeup and wigs and glamorous outfits. What would you call a woman who wants to dress in drag?
A diva darling. go for it I never understood why modern women would want to wear all that beige and boring crap they wear now. If I was a woman I’d be dressed to the hilt with satin and gold and make-up etc. Everyone I know says I’d need a lot of it.

I am very interested in being a drag queen and I just don’t know what to do to start it. I don’t have the clothes yet or the wigs, but I have the make-up and shoes!! I have been exposed to the drag world for quite some time here in Dallas, but I do not have very many friends in the business. I have had a lot of people tell me that I would look good as a woman and that makes me feel really good. I want to do this badly, but money is a problem, as I know that it takes an awful lot of money to start it. If you are a drag queen and are in the Dallas area, hit me up and give me some advice, please!!

Is there a difference? I always thought that a cross dresser is someone who does it purely for sexual gratification and a drag queen is someone who does it purely for career reasons. But resently I had a friend tell me they are the same thing. Am I right or is he?
You are correct… With the exception that cross-dressing isn’t about sexual gratification. I’m sure this is the purpose of SOME cross-dressers, however, cross-dressing isn’t motive-specific. There are any number of reasons for why people cross-dress.

So why wear makeup as a drag queen? The main thing for me seems to be the complete transformation aspect of drag. One moment you are part of the male world, and using techniques tested over time by women, you are transported into the world of feminization and are completely different.

When I wear makeup, I do have a bit of sexual thrill becoming someone else who is desired by others. I found also that I could overcome my flaws in my face such as dark spots under the eyes, wrinkles, and sagging. And, then become a person that is simply an over the top exaggeration, and ultra sexy image of the female form.

So, in the case of being a fetish drag queen, I am using such elements such as spiked collars, fetish falls, and huge earrings to amplify even more the symbols of sex availability.

Wearing a dress, and drag queen-like makeup to my prom? (i’m a guy) Yay or nay? Sounds like a fantastic idea. And take one of...

With halloween coming up in just few months, the popularity of drag queen costumes should be going up. The one time a year where the general public allows it be forgivable to dress in drag — just don’t like it so much to dress up the rest of year.

A lot of people have copied Doctor Frankfurter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show during this time. I certainly wanted to in my pre-drag days. But doing a simple search it looks like the most popular drag costume is the sissy maid. I have to say that when it comes to costume wigs, West Bay seem to be the best and have some of the most sexiest wigs.

As far as drag queen shopping we have it much nicer than years ago with the advent of the internet and ebay. Before the internet it was braving social disapproval by going to stores and trying on clothing items and makeup. Although many queens had done physical shopping in the past, it is so easy to find drag items on ebay, it is not even funny.

I would personally search everyday for the words thigh high boots, latex dress, drag queen, crossdresser, and wigs drag to find some of the nicest items. Sure there are ebay stores specializing in drag, but it is the unique items that people would part with for various reasons are the real gems.
